Jako, że Arjen Lucassen jest tytanem pracy, toteż na nowe krążki Ayreona nie trzeba było zbyt długo czekać. Tym razem zamiast metal opery otrzymaliśmy dwa osobne albumy określane przez samego Anthony’ego jako „sofciarski” (recenzowany „The Dream Sequencer”) i „metalowy” („Flight of the Migrator”).

Debiut Ayreon wypełniony był sławami holenderskiej (i nie tylko) sceny progresywnej i z pewnością można było liczyć na kontynuację konceptu. Nadeszła już rok później, ale tym razem w skrajnie minimalistycznej formie- Arjen Lucassen i dwóch gardłowych.

Arjen Anthony Lucassen to wielki miłośnik starych filmów science-fiction i należało się spodziewać, że kiedyś złoży należny im hołd. Zamiast więc nagrywać kolejną metal operę pod szyldem Ayreon, skrzyknął kilka znajomych gwiazd i formując Star One zabrał się do roboty. Na bębny tradycyjnie już zaprosił Eda Warby’ego („nie wyobrażam sobie płyty bez niego”- powiedział kiedyś).

Po odejściu z Vengeance Arjen Lucassen wydał solową płytę, która przeszła bez echa i dziś jest raczej ciekawostką dla jego fanów. W połowie dekady, ponoć z nożem na gardle (jak przyznaje w wywiadach) uruchomił swój flagowy projekt, dzięki któremu już za kilka lat zapisze się złotymi zgłoskami w historii metalu. Po nagraniu genialnego „The Human Equation” Arjen Lucassen był tak zachwycony głosem i osobą Marceli Bovio, że postanowił zmontować jej zespół. Na przełomie lat 2009/2010 świat obiegł elektryzujący news, że Arjen Lucassen reaktywuje swój kultowy projekt Star One. Mało tego, w niemal niezmienionym składzie! Z czasem do sieci wrzucane były różne trailery i apetyt, jakżeby inaczej, rósł w miarę jedzenia. W końcu jednak nadszedł ten dzień, gdy „Victims of the Modern Age” ujrzało światło dzienne.

Dla holenderskiego mistrza ogrodniczego cechu, nie ma nic piękniejszego od kwitnącego tulipana, wyhodowanego pod własną kuratelą. To oczywiście taka mała analogia. W tym przypadku, ogrodnikiem jest holenderska metalowa scena muzyczna, natomiast dorodnym i okazałym kwiatem zespół Flyer, który jak szybko rozkwitł, tak równie niespodziewanie zwiędł.
